Yes, these are challenging economic times for all of us. But here is the silver lining, at least in the world of dance: it has always been hard. We, resilient choreographers and hardy dancers, are not easily intimidated by challenging odds. No small amount of my creative thought goes towards figuring out how to survive and thrive on an ever-shifting budget while juggling many different projects. What is remarkable is that artists continue year after year to meet these challenges with humor, fresh ideas and adaptable strategies.
